What is guild?
1
Guild is a community art studio stocked with donated supplies, tools and equipment for all manner of craft and creativity. We aim to provide a space where folks can use free materials for creative expression while getting to know fellow community members. We encourage skill sharing and experimenting as primary learning sources. We believe that everyone is an artist and a creative practice is an essential part of all of us.
Do I need to be a professional artist or crafter?
2
No! We welcome makers of all skill levels. We encourage skill sharing among our community members and are happy to help beginners get started with basic techniques and equipment operation.
Can I get training on the sewing machines/other tools available?

Simply check our calendar for our events and come as you are! Rule of thumb at Guild is generally: drop-in during Open Studio hour or listed event time frames, but sometimes an activity will specifically note limited capacity or sign-up required!
Nothing! Everything is free. We operate on the basis of radical generosity. We are completely volunteer run and managed and only occasionally charge a small fee to cover costs for workshops or events. We always accept donations to help us cover costs and keep it free forever!
We will occasionally ask for a small donation to cover costs for an event or workshop or to help us cover costs to keep the space free forever! We welcome donations anytime.
You’ll be in good company! We can’t tell you how often we hear, “I’ve been meaning to come to so many of your events I see on Instagram and just finally pushed myself to show up today— so glad I finally did… I’m about to be a regular here!!”
All of our events are ages 16+ except for our All Ages Open Studio. During our All Ages Open Studio, folks under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Check our Calendar to see when All Ages Open Studio is happening this month!
You are welcome to bring your own tools and supplies or use what we have on hand!
No problem! You will definitely find something to play around with. Or you can spend your first time getting acquainted with everything we have in the space (it will take you awhile - there’s a lot to see!) Or ask others for an idea or inspo!
Yes! We occasionally offer sewing workshops and we encourage you to ask your fellow Guild hosts and attendees for help using our equipment safely and effectively. Google and YouTube are also our best friends… **Some equipment is off limits until you have been trained on it.

Based on current community needs and preferences, we do not have a formal membership process! Basically, if you interact with Guild in any capacity, consider yourself a part of the Guild community!
No problem! Come when you can. We are pretty laid back.
We currently offer Open Studio hours – for anyone who’d like to spend their free time in a welcoming, creative space among likeminded people – every Tuesday 5-8pm, Friday 11am-2pm, and Saturday 10am-1pm. That said, since Guild is completely volunteer run, we recommend you double-check Guild’s Instagram the day-of any event in case unforeseen circumstances require us to postpone or cancel an event.
Funny you ask! Yes, Jeri is our resident cat who lives at Jerico and likes to spend a lot of his time at Guild. He has a bed in our glass case counter when you first walk in and he is free to roam the building and the outdoors. He has his own cat door to get in and out, but he really prefers someone to open the door for him. He is 3 years old and is a big, fluffy, friendly guy.
